Sonja Nurmi is a metallurgy and materials engineering professional with a Master’s degree from Helsinki University of Technology, a predecessor of Aalto University, where she is currently working coordinating the international activities of a national research ecosystem on battery materials value chain, BATCircle2.0.

She has wide know-how in battery and critical raw materials fields and has been contributing to the European research agenda in the area of battery raw materials and recycling.
